Ten companies per night will battle it out with five minute pieces designed to entertain a sell-out live audience; an industry panel and online viewers at home. Only ten companies can make it to the Grand Final where one will be crowned winner.
The artistic content of the Festival will cover a wide range of disciplines including dance, theatre, spoken word, poetry, physical theatre, ensemble work and devised work from some of the UK’s most exciting new talents.
I was lucky enough to have my short piece ‘When Old Lil Woz Young’ chosen for the Five Minute Festival with LOST Theatre in which the piece won the first heat round of the competition, beating out nine other short plays to be performed on Saturday 9th November at the final. Whilst the piece did not win the overall prize I received a lot of great feedback from writers and creatives who attended the showcase.
When Old Lil Woz Young
Written and directed by Megan Fellows
Starring Charlotte Chinn
“Used to be a right looker in my day. Beautiful long auburn hair. A waist that the fellas could really grab. Yes, yes I was quite the catch. Although I woz clean… mostly.”
Old Lil used to have it all. The looks, the lavish lifestyle and the lads queuing down the lane. But as Old Lil pulls up her laddered stockings, one wonders where did it all go so wrong?
